 | | Sammio_17 | (06.08.2008) | | | | Xochimilco. Nahuatl for "Flower field place", it has been delcared a world heritage site by the UNESCO. You can take a nice "Trajinera" (boat) along the canal. Listen to Mexican music, enjoy the hundreds of flowers and shop for some souvenirs.
| This will make it a great outing for a family, a group of friends or even a very romantic date. Usually people go on Sundays, so on the weekends is more crowded. I wouldn't eat in the Trajineras, since I have seen them just rinse the plates and cutlery there in the canal. But you can have some drinks, listen to Mariachis and trios, dance, take really beautiful pictures and even buy some flowers and souvenirs. Even though is not as clean as it used to be, this place is magical and very charming.
